Wow. Very good source. I’m a new comer to blogs and get to agree with the fact it’s a powerful day out. I believe a little bit fearful of your whole fantastic ideas together with insights…but I reckon that that’s an area of the vacation. With thanks

What you saw them putting in the rice wasnt butter it was lime juice. Just stay away from the pinto beans, unless you like bacon.

@ Brandon - thanks for the tip about the Sacto location, I'll have to try it sometime. In my experience with ordering vegetarian burritos, they let you substitute guacamole for free since you aren't having meat, but I could see why they had you pay for it since you also had the fake meat.

What I'm wondering is, what is Chipotle's fake meat made out of? I'm assuming soy. I'd also be interested in the fat and sodium content. Fake meat kind of freaks me out so I don't eat it often, but I love Chipotle so I'd be down to try this.

I'm also really glad Chipotle takes the time to put specific food information about on their website, like that their pinto beans are cooked with bacon. I wish more restaurants would be more detailed like this. I have been to so many Mexican restaurants who claim their beans are "vegetarian" even though they are cooked with pig fat. I always have to point out that just because they aren't cooked with MEAT doesn't make it vegetarian; lard comes from an animal. I just think it's kind of weird that so many restaurants don't think about these things.

I received a reply from Chipotle and this is what it says:

Debra,

Thanks for writing. Our rice does not have butter in it. We cook our rice with soybean oil, and it is completely vegan. I hope this helps, but please let me know if you have any further questions. We hope to see you soon.

Sincerely,

Be AWARE. If you order anything from Chipotle with rice it has butter in it. Just like Debbie said, this is not vegan food and if you are in the LA area there are many great vegan restaurants out there. Check out vegetariansinparadise.com for a comprehensive list.
