Hi Jennifer,
I understand that. But it seems odd that a chain (Whole Foods) would market the same item at different prices. I would think they'd average the cost of the product across the country.
Of course, then they might not be competitive with the small local vendor...

Prices cannot be consistent with small companies...this product travels from Seattle and so $$ is tacked onto the price by the process of it getting there!

Hi Foodeater,
Thanks for the laugh! We just ran out to Whole Foods today to pick up a few more of the Celebration Roasts. Jane's planning on using them for sandwhiches and wanted to put a few in the freezer. Unfortunately, there was only one left. Sigh. Hopefully they'll get more in for the Chanukah and Christmas festivities.

Delicious! I was going to go with the Celebration Roast but after I bought it I couldn't wait until Thanksgiving because it looked so good... already ate it!

It's a good excuse to get me to cook though :)

Hi Tracie,
Yes, you would think pricing should be consistent. But regardless, I'm sure your "meat" loaf will be wonderful.

It was the 1lb roast. I live in New Jersey, so that could be the reason as to why its more expensive. You'd think that they'd have the same items priced the same throughout the US.

I work two jobs - and have to work both jobs today and tomorrow - so last night was the only night I could go out and get it before Thanksgiving. I'm thinking about trying it out for Christmas, though, if it's still out then.

Hi quarrygirl,
It was the new Pasadena store on Arroyo Parkway. Again, make sure the package says VEGAN right over the words "Whole Turkey" or you'll wind up with the vegetarian option. And it's $49+ (says it feeds 16). That's the whole foods where we found the 1lb Celebration Roast too. Jane said it looked like there were about 5 left late afternoon yesterday.

Hi Tracie,
Was it the 1 lb or 2 lb roast? We paid $5.99 for the 1 lb roast. If you're up for it, you may want to go back and talk to the customer service people. You can tell them you know it's $5.99 at the Pasadena Arroyo Pkwy store, and ask them to give it to you for that price. Who knows. Maybe they will...
On the other hand, we don't have the Silk Nog yet. Alas. Jane said she'd try the vegan eggnog recipe we posted under Vegan Thanksgiving Recipes, if she has the time.

You guys are lucky. I went out looking for Celebration Roast last night and the Whole Foods by me had it for $7.99 so I decided to forgo it and just stick with the 'meat' loaf I made and froze for Thanksgiving, last week, instead :)

If it had been a bit cheaper I probably would have tried it out.
