Thank you for your kind words. No to the English/Journalism backgrounds. I guess we had good teachers (thank you Mrs. Chomiak).
As for our approach, we believe that tolerance and compassion are the best policies.

I am in a transitional phase now, like you suggest. I eat vegan at home, but vegetarian when we go out to eat (which is probably too often, I’m afraid).

Let me add, too, how much I enjoy your blog. It is so informative, has links to many wonderful resources (I really loved the link to the “Super Size Me” documentary in full), and it is very well-written. Do you two have English or journalism backgrounds? Also, your tolerance of other lifestyle choices and your willingness to ‘fess up to your slips are refreshingly honest. Keep up the good work, and I’ll keep reading!

And Happy 1 Year Vegetarian Anniversary to you!!!
Thanks for remembering/noticing ours. You need to make the change when you are ready. As a transitional step, I might suggest that you try eating vegan at home and leave the vegetarian options for restaurants and your friends homes. Other people we know eat vegan a few days a week and vegetarian the remainder. Or, you could go cold turkey like we did. (When you’re ready, of course.)

Thanks… Actually, it’s not the blogiversary, it’s the actual anniversary of our transition to a vegan diet.
Yes, I’ve been reading about other meat recalls as well. It’s really disconcerting. Forgetting the vegan issues for a moment… it almost appears that our food supply is contaminated. I was joking with Jane last night that we should all just swallow pills instead of eating food. I don’t think she’d be willing to give up the chocolate though.

Unrelated to your post, but Happy 1st Vegan Anniversary, Jane and Lane! I “celebrated” by 1st anniversary as a vegetarian on July 3. I love this lifestyle, and hope to someday make the jump to vegan, but I don’t quite think I’m ready for that yet.
