Sorry to burst anyone's veggie bubble, but the Lightlife Tempehtations (Zesty Lemon Flvored), are beyond repulsive! I've been a vegetarian most of my life and have tried literally everything, but these crumbly garlic-laced "things" were the worst things I've ever ingested!!! No exaggeration. Spend your money on anything but this crap!

I just discovered this fantastic new "milk" beverage called So Delicious made from coconut milk. And while they don't have a chocolate flavor, there's an amazing recipe for chocolate syrup at hungryvegan.blogspot.com that I tried with this milk and my kids loved it! My husband, the biggest kid at our house, said it was the best chocolate milk he ever tasted, and that's quite an endorsement. LOL!

The Toronto Vegetarian Association had their bake sale on Saturday, and it sold out in 2 hours even though it rained the whole time and it was held outside! It was way more fun than I thought a bake sale could possibly be, and if there's one in your area, you should definitely check it out! TVA talks more about their on their last podcast: http://veg.ca/content/view/772/1/

Thank you everyone. It has been a difficult few weeks, even though we knew it was coming. All your kind words have been a balm of sorts, even though this wound is still raw and gaping. Your comments have helped a bit.

Hi Roxy,
(sorry for the late response)
The nutritional yeast adds a cheesy, salty flavor to the soup. You could always omit it and add salt if necessary. Since nutritional yeast is a good source for B12, we try to incorporate it wherever possible.
There are no substitutes for nutritional yeast. Are you having trouble finding it? You can usually find it in a health food store, or whole foods (if you have one). Many vitamin stores will also carry it. Just make sure you're getting nutritional yeast, not brewers yeast (which is not the same thing at all).

Hi Jason,
Gary has already responded, and rather eloquently, but I just wanted to add my two cents.
Since there is no need to eat animal products to meet our nutritional requirements, we really have to examine how we treat the animals that are turned into food. We treat them barbarously. That is unethical. We are supposed to be intelligent and evolved enough to be compassionate. No animal has to die in order for us to live.
Your meat doesn't come to you from the idyllic family farm marketers want you to believe in. Animals are treated as commodities and raised under horrific conditions. See Earthlings. It might just change your mind. That treatment of these animals before they get to your plate is what people are saying is unethical.
I too agree, that we should take only what we need. This is something that most Americans need to work on.
