This is exciting for Austinites leading epicurean lives: Paul McCartney—who just wrapped two back-to-back nights of performances at the Frank Erwin Center—and PETA have awarded Austin for being the most accommodating city in the country for vegan diets. He even gave food truck hipsters a special shout out:
The influx of forward-thinking musicians and techies, the thriving University, and the food trucks all over the city run by young veg-friendly hipsters have made Austin the absolute cutting-edge place for green eating.
Austin beat out the likes of Portland, Los Angeles and New York for the prize, which McCartney himself gave to Mayor Lee Leffingwell (it's been a fun week for you, Mr. Mayor!).
